Surveillance is the monitoring of a person or place for the purpose of observing activity, opportunity, or danger. Private investigators conduct surveillance to illustrate and document the activities of an individual, place, or group. Surveillance is a major component of an investigator’s toolbox. When employed surveillance can provide clients with direct knowledge pertaining to the specific details of their case – What did a specific person do? Where did that person go? Did anyone arrive or depart a specific location? Answering questions such as these can help to clarify if your suspicions are true, or conversely, it can be valuable in disproving them. Surveillance is commonly deployed in divorce cases, child custody cases, and used if a romantic partner has doubts about faithfulness. Surveillance is also used when questionable claims are submitted in the insurance industry. Workers' compensation claims and auto accident cases are investigated by employing surveillance.
Fischer Investigative Services can conduct surveillance efficiently and competently. From using the right strategy to employing the use of the right vehicles and equipment, let Fischer Investigative Services assist you with your case.
Having doubts about your relationship partner being faithful? This is a primary reason many seek the assistance of a private investigator. Sometimes a spouse who has been married years or even decades can develop doubts about their partner. The same can be said about unmarried couples in long-term relationships. A partner can begin to have doubts about the other party and whether they are romantically involved with someone else. Sometimes you begin dating someone and it progresses to the point of becoming serious. Perhaps you're thinking of taking the relationship to the next level and are considering cohabitation; however, there is that feeling of 'something just isn't right.'
Signs a spouse or romantic partner is cheating:
Keeping their smart phone close and not allowing their partner to examine it. A cheater can keep their phone closely guarded in order to conceal their activities. They can also begin to more frequently use the device and delete or alter data from it. The following are also signs to look for: your spouse or partner is sneaking off to text or take phone calls, your partner stops using shared devices, your spouse changed their password and won't share it with you, and your partner is oddly unreachable at certain times of the day.
Changes in Communication. Simple things like not saying 'I love you,' or not sharing' how their day went' can point to an underlying issue. The cheating spouse/partner may refuse to listen to, respond to, or accept what you're saying. This can signal infidelity through procrastinating to avoid discussing a topic (passive aggressive), rolling their eyes (dismissive body language), articulates reasons why they can't talk, ignores your concerns, refuses to answer questions, and changing the topic to avoid anything uncomfortable.
Increased Interest in Their Appearance. Often times a cheater will begin dressing nicer than they normally do. This can be illustrated by wearing a different style of attire and wearing clothes you've never seen.
Increased Time Spent Away from Home. This becomes more conspicuous when time spent away from home continues to elevate for considerable periods. The following represents what to watch for: Their daily schedule is altered and longer work hours and more time at the office are used to justify the change, when questioned about their routine they become vague about their explanation, the partner in question picks up a new hobby that requires time away from home and when you display interest in the pastime, they brush you off.
Changes In Attitude. Stress is a factor of life and can be caused by work or with difficulties in other relationships. The following could be signs of infidelity: when seeking reassurance from the partner about cheating, you don't feel satisfied with the response; your partner becomes more critical of you; your partner becomes defensive if you mention affairs; your partner is more negative than earlier in the relationship; and you begin to notice you partner wants more thrills in life.
Lying. To Lie is to recoil from a relationship. People lie so that others form beliefs that are not true. The more consequential the beliefs, the more consequential the lie. A cheating spouse can lie about infidelity itself, and its likely they lie about other things as well. Some examples of dishonesty: the cheating partner seems more secretive around you, the partner has been lying to you about other things, when you inquire about who your partner was with and what they were doing, they appear to become nervous.
Changes in your sex life. The following are red flags to lookout for: your sex life decreases or becomes nonexistent, and there is considerably less connection or intimacy in the relationship.
Money Problems. Financial stress is common in most relationships at times; however, the following are possible signs that your partner could be unfaithful: Charges appear on accounts that you're not familiar with. This usually occurs when looking at a credit card statement where certain charges don't make sense.
Going through a divorce is a stressful time. The process produces a range of emotions that can encompass being frustrated, sad, confused, exhausted, and anxious. Sometimes you could feel sorrow and regret, or even experience feelings of enmity and vengeance. These feelings and emotions are common during a separation and divorce.
The mistake many make is allowing their emotions to control their conduct during a divorce. If emotions gain the upper hand and dictate your conduct during a divorce, unintended consequences are likely to result. Conversely, careful strategic thinking is the antidote to having your emotional responses hurt you.
The aim of a competent professional investigator is to usher you away from acting on your emotions, and towards clear and strategic thinking despite those charged emotions. It's more important to focus on your long-term goals that prioritize your long-term position over the other partner than on your emotions.
Why should I hire a private investigator for my divorce?
This is a great question. The factual circumstances leading a spouse to request a divorce matter. These circumstances can affect how child support and custody get decided, the distribution of spousal support (alimony), and the apportionment of property and assets. There is often disagreement about these circumstances between the parties. The situation can simply be one of 'he said / she said.' A private investigator can then provide assistance in getting to the 'true facts.'
It is relevant to know if a spouse committed adultery or has engaged in other irresponsible behavior? Absolutely! Most likely information such as adultery, drug use, or financial irresponsibility won't be available through the traditional discovery process. Here is where a licensed private detective enters the picture. The investigator will have the knowledge, expertise, and capability to obtain the necessary information that corroborate the suspicions, or potentially disprove them. An experienced investigator can surveil and track a spouse in order to document what they do and where they go. The investigator can also obtain photographic and video evidence to memorialize the actions and behaviors of a spouse. The findings can be documented in a written report that is admissible in court. It's also worth noting licensed investigators can perform database checks, install a gps tracking device, and conduct surveillance on individuals that others cannot legally do
Maryland law allows for both fault-based divorces and no-fault divorces.
Two types of divorce are available in the State of Maryland - absolute divorce and limited divorce. Under Maryland law a marriage is contract between two people. Divorce is a legal ending to a marriage ordered by a court. An absolute divorce is a permanent end to a marriage and permits a judge to make a determination about issues related to the end of the marriage. Those topics include property division, child custody, and spousal support. A request for an absolute divorce can be based on certain 'at-fault' grounds. Those grounds include adultery, desertion, incarceration, separation, cruel treatment and excessively vicious conduct, and insanity. An absolute divorce can also be obtained based upon the mutual consent of the parties. For this to be approved both parties must agree to the divorce, agree to a written settlement, and sign a written settlement. The agreement, consented to by the parties, can deal with spousal support, division of property, visitation and custody of children, and child support.
Limited divorce is a legal separation; however, it does not end a marriage. During a limited divorce, a couple remains legally married while living apart from each other. A limited divorce is not required before obtaining an absolute divorce. During a limited divorce neither spouse may have sexual relations with another person or remarry. It is worth noting that a limited divorce is generally used by people who are not able to settle their differences privately, do not yet have grounds for absolute divorce, or need financial relief. The grounds for a limited divorce include cruel treatment and excessively vicious conduct, desertion, and separation.

A child custody battle is an intense situation. The parties to the dispute are not in agreement on what is best for the child and the stakes are high and very real. Hiring a professional investigator provides a parent, or guardian, with the opportunity to collect relevant evidence and then present the findings to assist them during the adjudication of the custody proceeding. A private detective can carry out a number of investigative techniques to accumulate the information required to prove the client's claims about the other party.
What is a child custody investigation?
It is an objective examination of a minor's treatment and wellbeing. A typical analysis involves an investigator assessing the treatment of a child by the parents or guardians in question. The results of the investigation are admissible in court and can be used in its evaluation. When a couple is divorcing, a child custody investigation can provide reliable evidence without bias. The child's treatment and wellbeing are observed while the party in question does not know about any monitoring going on. In a typical investigation, the investigator will attempt to incorporate the following components into their report after monitoring has been completed: drug use, unsafe or negligent driving, leaving the child with others when in their physical custody, criminal activity, or any additional activities that could have a detrimental impact on the welfare of the child. Furthermore, the investigator can attempt to find evidence that can demonstrate the parent is failing to provide food or other necessities or is failing to produce a clean and safe living environment.
How does a typical child custody investigation work?
Prior to starting the investigation, Fischer Investigative Services will consult with the client to ascertain what kind of information is germane to the case. In other words, what specifically does the client want to know, or what is their goal or objective to the child custody case? Perhaps the client wants to know if the other partner is dating someone new and if the new partner is living at the residence or staying overnight. Does the partner in question hire a babysitter and leave the child with the sitter during their scheduled time with the child? Maybe a concerned parent or guardian has suspicions the party in question is allowing the child to stay up late or engage in activities the concerned party would not approve of. The party in question could be allowing the child to stay up late or giving permission to associate with others who get into trouble. The child's grades may suffer because of this.
Surveillance would be initiated on the party in question to the custody dispute. Photographs and video memorialize how a guardian or parent treats a child. If the investigator witnesses neglect or abuse, the videotape or photographs become evidence.
Depending on the instructions or needs of a specific client, the investigator can question and interview family members or other potential witnesses about the wellbeing of the child by the party in question. An investigator can also conduct background checks on individuals the minor child is around. This could be a new partner of the ex-spouse.
